SHG Episode 158

Welcome to this week's edition of Subterranean Homesick Grooves™, a weekly electronica-based radio show presented originally on CHMA FM 106.9 at Mount Allison University in Atlantic Canada (but expanded to a distribution on other terrestrial radio stations), and also distributed as a global podcast through iTunes and numerous other sites. The show is normally programmed and mixed by Jonathan Clark (as DJ Bolivia), although some weeks feature guest mixes by other Canadian DJ's. The show encompasses many sub-genres within the realm of electronic dance music, but the main focus is definitely on tech-house and techno, and a small amount of progressive, trance, & minimal. Liner notes for this episode (SHG 158) can be seen below.

This week's show has been tied in with a video production, in association with a mini-series of YouTube tutorials that I've just produced to show people how to do live performances and learn more about DJ'ing. I video recorded the production of this show, which was mixed on a pair of Pioneer CDJ-2000 pitch-controlled CD players along with a Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus mixer. I've included two links at the bottom of this post which I think you'll find to be interesting. The first video shows the perspective from my point-of-view as the DJ, so you'll hear the cue signal in the left audio channel, and the right channel features the audio from the dance floor's perspective (my booth monitor feed). That one will probably only be interesting to the DJ's. However, the second embedded video at the bottom will play this week's episode from the dance floor perspective as a full-length video, and I think that everyone will enjoy that one.

Here are Track Listings for episode 156:

01. 10dens, "In A Distant World" (Hauk 'n Baum Remix).
02. Iban Loomvek, "Liegos" (Original Mix).
03. Paris The Black FU & Sierra Sam, "Welcome To The Blackout" (Original Mix).
04. Ale Di Rio, "I Can See It" (Original Mix).
05. Sean Danke, "Purkur" (Original Mix).
06. Oliver Moldan, "Beef" (Tom Hades Remix).
07. Funk D'Void, Sian & The Hellfire Club, "Pagan Imagery" (Original Mix).
08. Joy Marquez, "Secret Weapon" (Original Mix).
09. Billy Mason, "Amsterdam Funk" (Original Mix).
10. Steve Lorenz, "Berghain 5am" (Frankyeffe Remix).
11. Traumer, "Clementine" (Original Mix).
12. Pere F & Joan Roca, "American Speech" (DJahir Miranda & TecHouzer Remix).

This week's show has been tied in with a video production, in association with a mini-series of YouTube tutorials that I've just produced to show people how to do live performances with Ableton Live. This is a series that I've wanted to do for almost a year, and I've had hundreds of people emailing me with suggestions for it. It's a pretty complicated and comprehensive series, and I've embedded links to the four main parts of the series at the bottom of this post. You might find the bottom two links to be especially interesting, because I also filmed the production of this week's show, one showing the perspective from my point-of-view as the DJ (you'll hear the cue signal in the left audio), and the other from the dance floor's perspective. The very bottom link will play this week's episode from that dance floor perspective as a full-length video.

Here are Track Listings for episode 155:

01. Figueroa & Obando, "The Messanger" (Technasia Remix).
02. Cari Lekebusch, "Xylopeggiator" (Original Mix).
03. Alan Fitzpatrick, "Skeksis" (Original Mix).
04. Fatboy Slim, "Right Here Right Now" (Coyu Remix).
